Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is an effective therapeutic strategy for the treatment of respiratory insufficiencies in a health emergency and alongside traditional devices for the administration of oxygen and more invasive techniques such as tracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation.
CPAP: assisted ventilation in CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) mode consists in maintaining a constant positive pressure in the respiratory tract, both in the inspiratory and the expiratory phases; the respiratory rate is determined by the patient.
